Learning styles (revisited)

Apparently I took this test back in 2005.  The graphic has vanished, but my scores were:

Visual: 6
Social: 12
Physical: 9
Aural: 10
Verbal: 15
Solitary: 18
Logical: 11

Taking it again just now, after some recent discussion - and forgetting, temporarily, that I had done it previously - I scored like this:

Visual: 6
Social: 11
Physical: 8
Aural: 9
Verbal: 15
Solitary: 17
Logical: 7

And here - if it shows - is the graphic that goes with it:

So, I guess not much has changed, then!

What kind of happy?

I haven't posted a 'blogthings' quiz for a while. Many of them are silly, some are frivolous, some are pointless, some give answers which are WAY off. But I quite liked this one, and the result is right.

You Are Peaceful

You are feeling very serene and centered. You're content with your life.

You have a clear head and a peaceful spirit. You are relaxed enough to appreciate what you have.

You are able to let go of your fears. You are trusting and generous toward others.

You live a quiet, mellow life. It may not be dramatic, but it's very fulfilling.

Colour personality test

Well, surprisingly accurate. But I wonder how different the other combinations would have been...

The Ultimate Color Test

When you are at peace, you are:

Energized and innovative

When you are moved to act, you are:

Giving and warm

When you are inspired, you are:

Creative and productive

When your life is perfectly balanced, you are:

Philosophical and expressive

Your life's purpose is:

To find contentment

What does your fridge say about you?

Slightly bizarre quiz here... and my answers reflect, as much as anything, the fact that it's Thursday and we do our weekly supermarket shop on a Friday! Still, the 'results' weren't far off me.

What Your Fridge Says About You

You aren't greedy, but you don't really deprive yourself either. You strike a good balance with the stuff you buy.

You tend to be a fairly thrifty person. You splurge occasionally, but you're mostly a saver.

You don't tend to be a very adventurous person, but you do surprise everyone now and then. You have a bit of a wild side.

You are responsible, together, and mature. You act like an adult, even when you don't feel like it.

You are likely married, possibly with kids.

Personality test at 35,000 feet

Interesting take on a personality quiz. A bit basic - only five questions - and there were some where it was difficult to answer. Do I prefer an aisle or window seat? I don't mind, really. The one I don't like is the middle of three.

Anyway, after a couple of minor tweaks, I think this is remarkably accurate for me:

Your Personality at 35,000 Says...

Deep down, you prefer spending time alone to spending time with others. You enjoy thinking more than talking.

You are good with your place in the world. You are confident and comfortable with who you are.

Your gift is having a way with words. You know how to express yourself well.

You are inspired by what is possible. Real life is often too ordinary for you.

You are happy as long as you are given some personal space. It's important for you to have your own private life.

Where should you live?

Well, this is pretty much true though a bit predictable from my responses to a small number of questions:

You Should Live in the Country

You are laid back, calm, and good at entertaining yourself.

You don't need an expensive big city to keep you busy.

You'll take the peaceful life over the stressful life any day of the week.

What kind of nut are you?

A very short quiz, and I guess the results aren't too far wrong, though I hope I don't freak anyone out. I love hazelnuts, certainly!

You Are a Hazelnut

You are very unique and distinct. You may even freak some people out.

Most people don't really know how to interact with you.

You get along best with anyone who is super sweet.

But you really do get along with almost anyone. You just need a chance to wow them.

What generation?

This is just accurate as far as the generation goes, since I was born right at the end of the baby-boomer years.

I don't the think the description is particularly relevant, though!

You Belong in the Baby Boomer Generation

You fit in best with people born between 1943 and 1960.

You are optimistic, rebellious, and even a little self centered.

You still believe that you will change the world.

You detest authority and rules. Deep down, you're a non conformist.

How good is your spelling?

I would have been a bit worried if I had got any less than 10 out of 10 for this, as they all seemed very easy - even though one of them was an American spelling rather than a British one. But then spelling has always come fairly naturally to me.

Your Spelling is Perfect

You got 10/10 correct.

Your spelling is excellent. You also have a great memory and eye for detail.

What time of day are you?

Thanks to Sarah for this quiz. I liked the questions, and thought the result very apt - 6.49am is my peaceful time of day, long before the rest of the family get up.

This is my resulting badge, followed by the description:

You're 6:49 a.m.

You're the time of day right around sunrise, when the sky is still a pale bluish gray. The streets are empty, and the grass and leaves are a little bit sparkly with dew. You are the sound of a few chirpy birds outside the window. You are quiet, peaceful, and contemplative. If you move slowly, it's not because you're lazy – it's because you know there's no reason to rush. You move like a relaxed cat, pausing for deep stretches that make your muscles feel alive. You are long sips of tea or coffee (out of a mug that's held with both hands) that slowly warm your insides just as the sun is brightening the sky.

17% of the people who took this quiz got the same evaluation.

How fast can you type?

This was rather fun. Thanks to Leigh for the link. No need to sign up for typing lessons, unless you want to. Just type the words that appear in large letters in the box, at normal typing speed.

It's worth trying a few times too, while you get used to the system. My first attempt was 79 words per minute. Then I managed 91 words per minute twice, then 92, and finally this one:

102 words

Who should you vote for (American elections)?

It's just as well I'm not American, and don't live in the USA. I would have no clue who to vote for. It seems that in America, ethics and politics are bundled together, but not in any package I can actually agree with as a whole.

Here are my very confusing recommendations after rather an interesting quiz:

Who You Should Vote For

Barack Obama: 56%
Mike Gravel: 56%
Ron Paul: 56%
Dennis Kucinich: 50%
John Edwards: 50%
John McCain: 50%
Fred Thompson: 38%
Hillary Clinton: 38%
Mike Huckabee: 38%
Mitt Romney: 25%
Rudy Giuliani: 25%

Who you agree with on the war in Iraq: John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, and Ron Paul

Who you agree with on the economy: Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Ron Paul, and Fred Thompson

Who you agree with on health care: Barack Obama

Who you agree with on taxes: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John Edwards

Who you agree with on abortion: Mike Huckabee, John McCain, and Mitt Romney

Who you agree with on gay rights: Ron Paul, Fred Thompson, and John McCain

Are you a hippie?

Quite an interesting quiz, and I thought the results about right:

You're Not Exactly a Hippie...

While you're not a hippie, you've got the spirit of one.
Like most hippies, you have deep beliefs and unusual interests.

You may not buy into hippie fashions, music, or heavy drug use.
But at heart, you are a free spirit and suspicious of the status quo.

What kind of little girl were you?

Thanks to Buffy's Salon for this quiz; not very interesting questions, admittedly, but I liked th results!

What kind of little girl were YOU?

What colour crayon?

A slightly strange question, but some interesting questions - and a surprisingly accurate result.

You Are a Green Crayon

Your world is colored in harmonious, peaceful, natural colors.
While some may associate green with money, you are one of the least materialistic people around.
Comfort is important to you. You like to feel as relaxed as possible - and you try to make others feel at ease.
You're very happy with who you are, and it certainly shows!

Your color wheel opposite is red. Every time you feel grounded, a red person does their best to shake you.

What kind of breakfast?

I'm not sure if this is meant to represent the kind of breakfast I would be (if I were a breakfast...) or the kind of breakfast I should eat. It's accurate, anyway, since fruit is what I like to eat best - any time of day, but particularly at breakfast-time.

You Are Fruit

Healthy and sweet, you can appreciate a simple quality breakfast like fruit.
You don't need to put a lot of processed junk in your body... you're happy with what nature provides.
People have probably accused you of being a health nut, but you just like the best simple foods.
You care about what you put in your body. And it shows!

Are you a snob?

Well, I guess this is about right. I can tolerate anything except intolerance... and am not snobby about anyone other than snobs!

You Are Not a Snob

In general, you're a very open minded and kind person.
There really isn't a snobby bone in your body.
You're not afraid to be who you are... you're proud of your individuality.
In truth, you think that snobby people aren't good enough for you!

Are you ruined by American culture?

I'm most relieved to hear this, being a Brit rather than an American (though we did live in the USA for a couple of years in the early '90s)...

You Have Not Been Ruined by American Culture

You're nothing like the typical American. In fact, you may not be American at all.
You have a broad view of the world, and you're very well informed.
And while you certainly have been influenced by American culture (who hasn't?), it's not your primary influence.
You take a more global philosophy with your politics, taste, and life. And you're always expanding and revising what you believe.

What celebrity do you look like?

Thanks to TallSkinnyKiwi for this link.

Well... kind of bizarre that the two faces supposedly most like mine are male! But never mind...

What makes you a good friend?

Well, I did this quiz just for fun - it was only about five or six questions - and was then a bit surprised at the result, which is spot on:

You Are a Good Friend Because You're Accepting

No matter what a friend says or does, you try your best to understand it.
And your friends feel like they can tell you anything. You don't judge.

You know that friendship is a journey - with a lot of ups and downs.
If you and a friend grow apart, you get over it quickly... and leave the potential for future friendship open.

You tend to have many friends from many walks of life. Anyone you meet is could become a friend.
In fact, you are especially interested in people who are a little different than you. Seeing life from another perspective is something you cherish.

Your friends need you most when: They can't turn to anyone else with their secrets

You really can't be friends with: Dogmatic, stubborn people

Your friendship quote: "Love is blind, but friendship closes its eyes."
