How Nerdy?

Thanks to Deb for this.

Well I didn't think I was really nerdy, but having several experts in the family I suppose some of it's rubbed off on me. I do use Firefox as my browser, yes I always liked maths (and read it at university), and yes, I know a lot of the periodic table. But that's only because chemistry bored me so much at school that I decided the quickest way to pass exams was simply to learn the periodic table by rote. It worked, too.

The amazing thing is that even with all that, I'm only considered 22% nerdy. Apparently 78% of people are even more so....

I am nerdier than 22% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

Overall, you scored as follows:

78% scored higher (more nerdy), and
22% scored lower (less nerdy).

What does this mean? Your nerdiness is:

Not nerdy, but definitely not hip.

Right-brained or left-brained?

For a few of these questions I wanted to answer 'both' (or 'neither') but on the whole they were reasonable. I think the result is probably pretty accurate too.

You Are 60% Left Brained, 40% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

Which subject for further education?

Here's an interesting quiz which I saw at Chief Executive Mom's blog. What should I have 'majored in' (as they call it in the USA)? In other words, what subject would I best have been suited to read at university? I actually did maths with a hefty dose of computer programming although I struggled by the end. I only came to writing, and interest in history, psychology and so on, later on. At 19 I wouldn't have wanted to read English and in my mid-forties I haven't the slightest idea to go back to formal study, although it's true that I love to write (and read). Here's what it gave me:

You scored as English. You should be an English major! Your passion lies in writing and expressing yourself creatively, and you hate it when you are inhibited from doing so. Pursue that interest of yours!

Multiple intelligences

Ah, one more then. Here's a much better quiz about multiple intelligences, which also tells me my strength is in linguistic/verbal skills. Interesting. When I've done this kind of thing before, I've come out highest in intra-personal, which ranks second according to this questionnaire. I also usually score rather higher at maths - which is the subject I did for my degree, albeit many years ago.

Anyway, for what it's worth:

You scored as Verbal/Linguistic. You have highly developed auditory skills, enjoy reading and writing and telling stories, and are good at getting your point across. You learn best by saying and hearing words. People like you include poets, authors, speakers, attorneys, politicians, lecturers and teachers.

Nothing to do with IQ really...

I've seen this on other blogs too. Strange test. Some easy questions, some not-so-easy. At least one American general knowledge. IQ tests at best tell you how well you do in IQ tests, they're only a general measure of a few sorts of intelligence. But anyway, this was very quick and I thought the results quite cool.
Your IQ Is 125

Your Logical Intelligence is Exceptional
Your Verbal Intelligence is Genius
Your Mathematical Intelligence is Genius
Your General Knowledge is Above Average
