Multiple intelligences

Ah, one more then. Here's a much better quiz about multiple intelligences, which also tells me my strength is in linguistic/verbal skills. Interesting. When I've done this kind of thing before, I've come out highest in intra-personal, which ranks second according to this questionnaire. I also usually score rather higher at maths - which is the subject I did for my degree, albeit many years ago.

Anyway, for what it's worth:

You scored as Verbal/Linguistic. You have highly developed auditory skills, enjoy reading and writing and telling stories, and are good at getting your point across. You learn best by saying and hearing words. People like you include poets, authors, speakers, attorneys, politicians, lecturers and teachers.

Types of procrastinator!

I was going to stop these for today, then I spotted this one. I didn't even realise there were types of procrastinator, so I couldn't resist. I'm not sure the answer is really me, although there's a definite grain of truth in it, and I'm not surprised to see that my 'not a procrastinator' score is zero!

You scored as Worrier. Your procrastination type is the worrier, who needs security and fears risk. Worriers tiptoe through life, constantly anxious about the "what-ifs." They put off decision-making and resist change, dragging out projects as long as they can.

This one was rather better than the conservative-or-liberal test I did yesterday. Still rather Americentric, but I did have strong views on most of the questions. I think it's scored me about right, too.

Mythical Creatures

Oh, OK so this was a rather silly one. Ages ago I did a different quiz about mythical creatures and scored as a unicorn. Not an option in this quiz, but at least most of my answers were clearly yes or no for the questions asked.

You scored as Angel. Angel: Angels are the guardians of all things, from the smallest ant to the tallest tree. They give inspiration, love, hope, and positive emotion. They live among humans without being seen. They are the good in all things, and if you feel alone, don't fear. They are always watching. Often times they merely stand by, whispering into the ears of those who feel lost. They would love nothing more then to reveal themselves, but in today's society, this would bring havoc and many unneeded questions. Give thanks to all things beautiful, for you are an Angel.

Types of Intelligence

Seven types of intelligence are fairly widely understood these days. Whereas IQ tests really only look at logical reasoning, numerical pattern understanding, English usage (a bit) and spatial reasoning, this simple questionnaire looks at our abilities in various seven intelligence areas to determine the most significant one. It doesn't give a chart with them all - indeed I'm not sure if it does question for all of them - but I guess it's about right that my primary area is linguistic.

Your Dominant Intelligence is Linguistic Intelligence

You are excellent with words and language. You explain yourself well.
An elegant speaker, you can converse well with anyone on the fly.
You are also good at remembering information and convicing someone of your point of view.
A master of creative phrasing and unique words, you enjoy expanding your vocabulary.

You would make a fantastic poet, journalist, writer, teacher, lawyer, politician, or translator.

Types of slang

I've seen this one before, but found it again on Blogthings. It tries to determine what kind of slang we use. Unfortunately I had NO clue for about half the words... or thought the given slang word meant something entirely different from all three possibilities. So as instructed, I made wild guesses. Still, it's told me my slang usage is predominantly British, so maybe I knew some subconsciously.

British Slang: 75%
Aussie Slang: 25%
Prison Slang: 25%
Southern Slang: 25%
Victorian Slang: 25%
Canadian Slang: 0%
New England Slang: 0%

Conservative or Liberal politics

Last one for today. I hope. These quiz things can get rather addictive, yet many of them are very silly. This one is actually about the American political system, where (confusingly to many of us) politics and ethics get muddled up together. To me, Conservative politics has nothing to do with conservative ethics. In the UK, issues such as abortion restrictions are generally resolved in parliament by all politiicans voting according to their consciences. They're not related to any particular party. Of course social policies such as taxation and immigration are related to party politics, although the US Liberal party is more like the Labour party in the UK.

But anyway, this was slightly more interesting than many...

Your Political Profile

Overall: 20% Conservative, 80% Liberal

Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Ethics: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Career type

OK, so this one was rather silly. Only FIVE questions, to lead to career suggestions? No way. And yet... the results are probably about right, if I were wanting a career that took me outside the home.

Your Career Type: Social

You are helpful, friendly, and trustworthy.
Your talents lie in teaching, nursing, giving information, and solving social problems.

You would make an excellent:

Counselor - Dental Hygienist - Librarian
Nurse - Parole Officer - Personal Trainer
Physical Therapist - Social Worker - Teacher

The worst career options for your are realistic careers, like truck driver or farmer.

Periods of history

Another I found in JJ's blog. Unusual for me in that I answered 'strongly disagree' to quite a few of the questions. I don't think I'd really like to have lived in the Middle Ages, though. I'm quite happy in the 21st century with all the comforts I so often take for granted. I seem to have Renaissance as equally high (there was a tie-breaker question) but the modern world seems surprisingly low down. Perhaps because I don't have a mobile phone.

Jane Austen heroines

I had to search a bit for this one, but remembered seeing it on Lora's blog a month or two ago. I took it then, and was told I was Elinor Dashwood. I did it again just now, uncertain about some of the answers, and got the same result. Hmmm.

You are Elinor Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility!
You are practical, circumspect, and discreet.
Though you are tremendously sensible and allow your head to rule,
you have a deep, emotional side that few people often see.

Disney characters

I found this one on JJ's blog. Hmmm... not sure about this at all. I ended up with a tie-breaker between three, so it could really have been any of them. Sleeping Beauty, Goofy or The Beast - three characters who seem to me to have little in common. Perhaps I'm a mixture.

Anyway, I'm glad to know I'm not much like Cruella de Ville.

Harry Potter and Myers-Briggs combined

I came across this one on Lou's blog. Asks fairly standard temperament/type questions, and then allocates a Harry Potter character as well as a Myers-Briggs code.

No surprises here in that once again it confirms INFJ - slightly more surprising is that it gives me Dumbledore, just as the QuizFarm quiz below did.

Type of Christianity

This is one of my favourite of the QuizFarm questionnaires. I did it a few weeks ago when it was floating around the blog world, and just found it again on Helen's blog. I did it again, and came up with the same answers (though perhaps the percentages vary a little).

I think the questions are extremely well formulated, and - at least for me - the answer is spot on. Anyone who's a Christian (and if you're not sure, do the quiz about which religion suits you, just a few posts below this one) would probably benefit from this, which distinguishes several forms of the faith. I am definitely not a fundamentalists, but neither am I a liberal Christian. I don't know a huge amount about the Emergent/Postmodern church, and realise it's probably going in all directions some of which may be a bit worrying. Nevertheless, this (at its best) is the style which most appeals to me.

(NB for anyone having trouble fitting the reply on their blog, I found it best to reduce the table size from 600 to 400 in the HTML, and to remove the picture altogether.)

You scored as Emergent/Postmodern. You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

What planet?

Well here's a weird one - what planet am I from? The obvious answer is 'Earth'... still, it looked a little different to the normal sorts of quizzes and it wasn't long. What's strange is that the description in the answer is really surprisingly close to correct. I wonder if they're all just general one-size-fits-all...

You Are From Neptune

You are dreamy and mystical, with a natural psychic ability.
You love music, poetry, dance, and (most of all) the open sea.
Your soul is filled with possibilities, and your heart overflows with compassion.
You can be in a room full of friendly people and feel all alone.
If you don't get carried away with one idea, your spiritual nature will see you through anything.

Nothing to do with IQ really...

I've seen this on other blogs too. Strange test. Some easy questions, some not-so-easy. At least one American general knowledge. IQ tests at best tell you how well you do in IQ tests, they're only a general measure of a few sorts of intelligence. But anyway, this was very quick and I thought the results quite cool.

Harry Potter characters!

Having a browse around QuizFarm, I couldn't resist this one... which gives me a result not so far away from the one I had on the 'religions' quiz below. Which Religion?

I think QuizFarm has some of the most thought-provoking and interesting quizzes about. Although it also has some which look extremely crude. But in those I've tried - many of them about some religious topic or other -the questions have been carefully thought through, and the answers make a lot of sense. Here's a basic one asking which religion someone most closely associates with. I'm relieved to find that my answers tie in best with Christianity, and intrigued to see that the next two are Buddhism and Paganism. This is what it said:

You scored as Christianity. Your views are most similar to those of Christianity. Do more research on Christianity and possibly consider being baptized and accepting Jesus, if you aren't already Christian.

Christianity is the second of the Abrahamic faiths; it follows Judaism and is followed by Islam. It differs in its belief of Jesus, as not a prophet nor historical figure, but as God in human form. The Holy Trinity is the concept that God takes three forms: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost (sometimes called Holy Spirit). Jesus taught the idea of instead of seeking revenge, one should love his or her neighbors and enemies. Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross to save humankind and forgive people's sins.

Myers-Briggs quiz

Of course online quizzes only give a vague indication of type. There are better ones than this around too, but I do like the way it will give the first few possibilities rather than just one. It was also quite accurate: INFJ is indeed my type, as far as I know, with ISFJ the one next most like me. But take it with a pinch of salt, as with all these things (and why, I wonder, is there such a huge gap between this text and the quiz results?)

Your #1 Match: INFJ

The Protector

You live your life with integrity, originality, vision, and creativity.
Independent and stubborn, you rarely stray from your vision - no matter what it is.
You are an excellent listener, with almost infinite patience.
You have complex, deep feelings, and you take great care to express them.

You would make a great photographer, alternative medicine guru, or teacher.

Your #2 Match: ISFJ

The Nurturer

You have a strong need to belong, and you very loyal.
A good listener, you excell at helping others in practical ways.
In your spare time, you enjoy engaging your senses through art, cooking, and music.
You find it easy to be devoted to one person, who you do special things for.

You would make a good interior designer, chef, or child psychologist.

Your #3 Match: ENFJ

The Giver

You strive to maintain harmony in relationships, and usually succeed.
Articulate and enthusiastic, you are good at making personal connections.
Sometimes you idealize relationships too much - and end up being let down.
You find the most energy and comfort in social situations ... where you shine.

You would make a good writer, human resources director, or psychologist.

So finally I gave in....

... there are far too many interesting questionnaires and quizzes going around. I'm not going to mix them in with my general Life in Cyprus blog, nor my book reviews. I doubt if anyone will actually ever READ these, but even so... for my own future reference, here's the first one which I came across on another blog, and which I was quite pleased about (given that it's an American quiz, with US spellings, grammar and punctuation being tested).
